This year has been all over the place with my manicurist.
My regular manicurist retired in May. I moved to another woman in the shop that I had used before. One of the other woman bought the business from the woman who retired and I think they raised the "stall fee", so the woman I switched to also left. But it was okay since she made my acrylics too thick. So I moved to another woman who I thought was to busy for me as a regular. Luckily she fit me in. She does a great acrylic nails and she likes sparkles too.
But she was on vacation last week when I had my regular mani, so I saw the 4th different manicurist this summer.
Anyway, I had an event to attend that I needed to keep my fingernails under wraps.
So I got my regular gel base, gel issy wizzy let's get busy and gel topcoat. then she put a matte finish regular polish over. So after the event I can take nail polish remover and get back my shine.

So I learned you can mix and match gels and none gels.

Getting bolder as I get older.
Current finger nails are Gelish WaterField, a champagne gold/silver glitter, would be great for New Year's Eve. It's great now as well.
Mine is two coats, this picture is only one coat.

I had my manicure on Wednesday. 6 layers of gel
clear base,
3 layers Gelish Water Field
2 layers clear shine.
The woman sitting next to me in a meeting today lean over and told me
"I love your nail polish, is it gel?"
"Thank you, yes gel."

I've never had so much positvie response to my nails.
Today while signing the slip on a credit card purchase, the cashier said...
"Love your nail polish, more men should wear polish."

Since no one was in line, I then showed her my toenails.
"WOW".

I get positive comments on my fingernails all the time. The staff at my oncologist's office always want to see what color I wearing this time. I get my nails done every two weeks and go for an infusion every three, so it's always something new. Since I've worn skirts the last couple of visits, now we check to see if the skirt color co-ordinates with the wall color of the room (they're all different).

Current nail color is OPI Can't Hear Myself Pink - medium pink with a very fine silver metal flake. The last couple of times I've had my nails shaped with a square tip. I may go back to the traditional rounded tip, the square tip has a sharp corner at each side that catches on things.

Do many people in jolly old England have (born with) gold glitter fingernails?
The only questions I get is "Gel or polish?" Gel for my fingers, mostly polish on my toes, some gel.

Yesterday, one of male students who has a professional finance career complained that he got a mani-pedi at the same time and they filed his fingernails to slant to one side because she was sitting next to him doing the mani while someone was doing his pedi.

Because I also have acrylics on my fingernails and gel makes them stronger. I never get any clips on my fingernails and they are always on display.
