Responding to the Article ‘Is The Female The Highest Form Of Evolution?’
GoneNylon says:
Apparently, Hope, your query is being pondered far beyond the digital edges of this hub. In the U.S., it is an article of faith among our bizarro right wing cultists that “America is being feminized.” Of course, these loonies see that as a BAD thing, and the generally equate it with homosexuality, liberalism and “Euro-centrism” (whatever, precisely, that might be).
Your reference to phytoestrogens in the food supply is a relevant and significant one. In addition, heavy metals and other toxins leached into our water supply are leading to transexualism in so-called “lower” life forms (fish, lizards and such like critters). Anyone with a certain degree of enlightened ability to reason will understand that such changes are harbingers of greater changes yet to come. Already, the “industrialized” world is seeing more and more “precocious puberty” in our females, with breasts apppearing and menses commencing in girls as young as seven or eight years. Generally speaking, that shouldn’t be a function of “simple” evolution, as populational change on the evolutionary scale is usually undetectable given our short-range vision for such things as a result of the relatively short duration of a human life.
On the other hand, if the cause were simply plant-based phyto-estrogens, one would expect cultures where the diet is high in soy (soy being a large contributor of natural phyto-estrogens) to be awash in 38C guys. Last I checked, that’s not the case in either Japan or greater mainland Asia, and hasn’t been. Moreover, if the changes were that profound, transexuals on this side of the pond would be consuming tofu so quickly that grocers couldn’t keep their shelves stocked. Sadly, that’s not the case. I should know: I had no trouble picking up some extra-firm just the other day. Now stop that! Extra-firm TOFU, dernit!
Interesting topic, Hope. Thanks of opening the door to discussion on it.
